Dr. Thomas Estes was raised in Gay, Ga and graduated
from Greenville High School. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia and then his MD degree
at the Medical College of Georgia in 1978. Dr. Estes was accepted into and completed the General Surgery Residency Program
at Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta and promptly joined Dr. Michael Haney in Moultrie. Dr. and Mrs. Estes have lived
in Moultrie since 1983 with their two children. Their son has followed in his father's footsteps and is currently
in the Radiology Residency at Wake Forrest University. Their daughter graduated suma cum laude from UGA and recently
completed her Master of Science in Journalism at Northwestern University in Chicago. The family attends First United
Methodist Church.

Dr. Estes completed his residency in General Surgery in 1983 and was Certified by the American Board
of Surgery in 1984. He was recertified in 1994, and again in 2006. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons
and a member of numerous state and national surgical societies. He has served on the medical staff of CRMC in numerous leadership
positions, including Chief of Staff and Chief of Surgery.

Dr. Estes has interest in multiple areas of surgery, including oncology and laparoscopic procedures.
He was responsible for bringing laparoscopic procedures to CRMC with the advent of laparoscopic gallbladder surgery,
and performed the first laparoscopic cholecystectomy done in Moultrie. He is currently the Medical Director of
the Wound Care Center at CRMC, in addition to full-time surgical practice.
